Our sneakers fit slightly large so we recommend sizing down if you're unsure. We offer free carbon neutral shipping, returns and exchanges, so it’s easy to get the right pair.
Yes! Our sugarcane midsoles are light and bouncy, like a running shoe.
- A little, Court is made from leather and suede, which naturally adjust to the form of your feet.
- Rv3 is made from a Tencel knit which has a slight flexibility due to its knit pattern. However, Rv3 does not include any elastane (the really stretchy synthetic fiber found in a lot of athleticwear) since elastane isn’t recyclable.
We use an insole made from recyclable PU and molded to provide a medium level of arch support. This is so that our sneakers can offer maximum comfort to as many people as possible.
Yes. Our sneakers come with removable insoles so you can easily replace them with your orthotic insoles if you wish.
We ship (almost) everywhere and shipping is free of charge.

Our purpose is to champion a new way of owning your sneakers because we aim to make sneakers at zero expense to the Earth.
Our research and product development are guided by these core design principles:
Minimize use of non-renewable petroleum-based materials Maximize use of renewable materials
Provide complete information about material compositions
Solve the end-of-life problem (330 million pairs (or 297,000 Tonnes) of shoes are thrown away annually in the UK alone, with only around 5% being recycled)
We are always pushing towards and creating a cleaner future. We believe in the old maxim: what gets measured, gets done. Which is why we give detailed material descriptions and meticulously measure our environmental impact (via a third-party environmental consultancy). We know we can only improve if we have a benchmark to compare against, and with these we will keep improving indefinitely.
We state the percentage of the various components of our sneakers – the good, the bad and the ugly. Sustainable sneaker development has not yet been perfected, but we’re working on perfecting it. In the meantime areas of improvement remain, we believe in explaining these, not glossing over them.
We use the highest possible percentages of sustainable materials we can whilst maintaining performance and durability. Some of the most sustainable materials in our sneakers include:
90% natural and recycled rubber outsoles
69% sugarcane midsoles
78% Tencel uppers and linings in Rv3 (made from eucalyptus)
100% Leather Working Group Gold Certified uppers and linings in Court
100% SEAQUAL panel backings in Rv3 (upcycled marine litter)
100% recyclable PU insoles
100% recycled polyester laces in Rv3
100% certified organic cotton laces in Court
100% Forest Stewardship Council certified and recyclable packaging
100% climate-compensated carbon neutral shipping, returns and exchanges
We consider the cradle-to-cradle impact of a Roscomar sneaker, not just manufacturing.
This means looking at who our sub-suppliers are, where they're based and how far materials need to travel, as well as the usage/wear and end-of-life implications of our shoes.
The Rv3 sneaker has a cradle-to-cradle CO2e greenhouse gas emission of 6.5kg.
The Court sneaker has a cradle-to-cradle CO2e greenhouse gas emission of 9.7kg.
Our sneakers are engineered using our own mix of innovative performance materials and luxurious classics, both sourced from the most eco-friendly suppliers. Lightweight yet bold in their aesthetic, Roscomar sneakers are designed for versatility and are built to last.
Yes, we maintain records of all our suppliers’ certifications and material authentications.
These include: LWG (Leather Working Group), GOTS Global Organic Textile Standard), BCI (Better Cotton Initiative), FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), GRS (Global Recycle Standard), ISO, Tencel and SEAQUAL, among others.
We use leather and suede uppers in our Court sneakers.
Leather (including suede) is an organic material that is biodegradable. It is made of leftover hides from the meat industry. Generally no animals are slaughtered only for their skins.
We use real leather, as opposed to “vegan” leather (which is usually polyurethane), is petroleum-based and we work to minimise use of non-renewable petroleum-based materials as far as material science currently allows.
Leather has many benefits when used for footwear:
It is naturally breathable and keeps feet comfortable all day. Leather shapes and stretches to conform to your feet.
It is highly durable; leather shoes can last for many years if they are properly cared for (the longer you keep your sneakers the more sustainable they are!)
It is highly resistant to dirt and marks.
Weatherproof. When correctly treated, leather shoes can keep feet warm and dry in almost any conditions.
All leather used in Roscomar sneakers is Gold certified (the highest rating) by Leather Working Group. LWG is a global environmental stewardship protocol specifically for the leather manufacturing industry with regular supply chain audits.
Yes, our Rv3 sneakers are vegan. The uppers used in Rv3 are made from Tencel™instead of vegan ‘leather’ that is usually Petroleum based. Tencel™ is a Lyocell fiber certified and made by Lenzing. This means we can guarantee that our Lyocell is made from sustainable forest fibers in a closed loop in Europe. The main forest fiber used is eucalyptus but acacia, aspen, birch, maple, and southern pine are also used.
Lyocell has very consistent quality and properties, making it easy to use in manufacturing. This means less waste, which is usually a big problem in the textile industry.
Lyocell takes up dye more easily than cotton and similar fibers, and since dying is usually the process in textile manufacturing where lots of chemicals are used, lyocell is a cleaner and more effective material as a result. Tencel™ is made from sustainably sourced wood fibers, meaning we can plant new trees to make new sneakers. The fiber is also compostable – it can literally become soil for new plants and trees to grow in.
Lyocell has many benefits when used for footwear:
It is smooth but also very durable.
It has natural moisture-wicking properties;
Lyocell takes up water better than wool and as well as cotton. This helps to keep feet feeling dry.
Lyocell is a naturally breathable material.
It is gentle on skin.
Lyocell is unfavorable for bacterial growth, i.e. it will take longer for shoes to become smelly as compared to e.g. cotton.
Sugarcane is a grass (a renewable biological fiber). The sugarcane that Roscomar uses comes from Brazil, where it is watered by rainfall and thereby limiting manual irrigation and using minimal fertilization. The sugarcane is harvested and processed into granules that can be used like a traditional EVA material. Sugarcane reproduces in cycles of less than a year, making it an even more sustainable fiber.
Compared to traditional EVA, which is petroleum-based, sugarcane is much better for the environment and has lower CO2 emissions. Roscomar sneakers are made with a midsole containing 69% sugarcane EVA (the highest percentage currently possible).
Why use sugarcane EVA for our midsoles?
EVA is a great material to make sneaker soles. Replacing traditional petroleum-based EVA with sugarcane-based EVA does not diminish the great properties of EVA.
It is soft and sturdy at the same time, giving soles a good bounce without losing rebound or elasticity.
It is super lightweight.
It is very weatherproof and durable.

We will recycle that which can be recycled, such as rubber. Natural materials such as leather, suede and cotton, are composted or reprocessed to make new materials. We work with one of the global leaders in textile and footwear recycling who process about 35,000 pairs of shoes every day.
The most sustainable option is always not to buy anything new at all. But when you do need your Roscomars we ask you to try to extend their life for as long as possible. This is because the longer you have and wear your sneakers, the more sustainable they are by spreading out their carbon footprint over a longer period of time.
Start at birth by protecting your Roscomars with Liquiproof Labs Premium Protector.
Keep your sneakers living longer by cleaning and caring for them as below.
UPPERS - LEATHER
Remove your laces before cleaning.
Start by using a soft brush or old toothbrush to brush off dry dirt.
Use a damp cloth and or your brush to remove any further dirt or marks.
If you'd like to brighten the colour of your sneakers you can use a shoe polish to do so, just make sure you don't get any on the soles, laces or inners as it may mark.
Apply a polish with a soft cloth and follow instructions.
UPPERS - SUEDE
Remove your laces before cleaning.
Start by using a Suede brush or old toothbrush to gently brush off dry dirt.
Use a damp cloth and or your brush to remove any further dirt or marks.
If your sneakers are left quite wet then stuff them with plain paper (not printed paper!) so they keep their shape.
Allow your sneakers to fully dry before giving them a final soft brush and wearing.
Clean your laces separately to the rest of your sneaker.
You can put them in a delicates bag in your washing machine or wash with detergent in the sink.
Wash with cool water and a small amount of detergent.
If you can't get them clean enough we offer replacement laces here.
INSOLES & SOLES
Brush and rinse off the sole with warm water, hand soap and a soft brush, make sure it is clean of all removable dirt.
You can give the Insole this treatment as well.
UPPERS - TENCEL
Remove laces and insoles.
Wash the upper with soap and a clean soft brush, gently by hand. Or put one sneaker at a time into the machine on soft cycle 30* degrees Celsius. Don’t use washing detergent. Washing detergents contain enzymes that are not always suitable for footwear. You can add some hand soap or special washing detergent for wool or delicates if you'd like to scent them. It's integral not to wash the shoes in the pair together, as they might smash into each other and disform the uppers of one another.
Clean your laces separately to the rest of your sneaker, with a small amount of detergent and warm water in the sink. If you can't get them clean enough we offer replacement laces here.
